Privacy Policy

This page describes the policy related to privacy and cookies for this website, dementiacarenotes.in

More details about privacy and cookies are shared below, along with ways you can opt out. (Cookies are small text files that are placed on your machine to help the site provide a better user experience). Note that some such opting out may restrict how you can use the site.

Data used for analyzing site performance (Analytics)

Google Analytics Opens in new window [1] is used to understand how visitors use the site. Google analytics is an extremely common way of analyzing site visitor data to improve sites. Analytics can show what pages you view within this site, how you arrived at this site and some basic information about your computer. We use this data to see how to improve content and navigation on the site. Analytics data is NOT used for any individual behavior profiling or for any targeted advertising.

The IP data is anonymized for Google Analytics Opens in new window [2] using the plugin “All in One SEO”. Because of this anonymizing, we do not know who you are; just that somebody visited the site. Read the Google Analytics privacy pageOpens in new window [3].

Google Analytics uses cookies. If you wish, you can opt out of analytics: See how to opt out using a browser add-on Opens in new window [4]. Also, you can always delete any existing cookies in any browser (some resources for this are given below).

Data related to comments that visitors may leave

Some of our site’s pages allow visitors to leave public comments. The comments module is as provided by WordPress (and Jetpack and Akismet).

Essentially, if you leave comments on the site, the data collected is the data shown in the comments form and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service, Akismet. See their privacy policy Opens in new window [5]

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is to be able to recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

One optional feature in the comment form is that you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. This is only for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have left comments, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. (The simplest way to not share this personal data is to not leave comments on the site)

If you are really curious and want more detail, you will find them as part of the page here Opens in new window [6]

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited those other websites. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Social media sharing and “likes” may also create cookies by the third party social media you are logged into. These third parties may use such data for their own targeting. You will need to check their privacy policies to see how they create, retain, and use data. If you are a user of these services, you have already consented to their privacy policies to continue to use the products. For example, persons with Google accounts (probably almost everyone) would have seen: Google Privacy & Terms Opens in new window [7] (This, incidentally, includes Youtube). Similar detailed material is available for Facebook and other such very commonly used services/ accounts.

Some additional cookies

Site navigation and functionality is partly provided using the Jetpack plugin (owned by Automattic). Here are some cookies used for the features this site uses (See documentation at https://jetpack.com/support/for-your-privacy-policy)

A cookie is also maintained to store the fact that you have already seen our notice about cookies. This is part of the plugin that displays the “This site uses cookies” notice displayed in the footer when you first visit any page on our site, and is maintained for one year before the notice is displayed again. (Of course, you can delete the cookie using browser options, as you can delete any other cookies, too)

Some general resources

If you want to understand more about cookies and how you can use browser features to prevent storing cookies, or how you can delete existing cookies, see sites like aboutcookies.org or aboutcookies.org.uk. You can also see the browser settings/ options to see what is available. Deleting cookies is quite easy.
