General tips for locating relevant resources:

Please contact the resources listed above if you are looking for dementia/ care support. If you are looking for resources in other Indian cities/ regions, or across India, check City-wise/ Region-wise resources andResources across multiple Indian cities. Below are some tips for locating additional resources:

  • A list of local services can usually be obtained by surfing the Internet using keywords and the name of the city, and looking for various types of services. Most cities will have some home care services, old age homes, nursing agencies, etc. The larger hospitals of the city will usually have memory clinics, geriatric clinics, or geriatric psychiatry clinics to help the initial diagnosis of dementia. Search for these combined with your city name and other such phrases.
  • Use various combinations and alternate city names for more suitable results. For example, you may look for Hyderabad, Hydrabad, Secunderabad, Secundarabad, Guntur, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam , or whatever else you consider useful. Search using locality names also.
  • Updates/ fresh data on dementia support facilities/ services may also be available from the National Dementia Helpline ( 0484-277-5088). E-mail: or other helplines handled by the ARDSI National Office (09846198471,09846198786, 09846198473)
  • The reception/ nurses at local hospitals often know about agencies that supply attendants/ nurses for home care.
  • Many large path lab services also provide home pickup of blood samples.
  • Many neighborhood path labs and small clinics are able to send nurses home for some minor procedures, like IV. Some even have contacts of doctors who may be willing to make home visits (you must satisfy yourself about the quality and reliability)

Also note, contact numbers and addresses keep changing. If you have an problems old number/ name of hospital/ doctor, etc., get the latest details using local telephone inquiry/ assistance services.

However, you may find it useful to check up with Helpage India, or the elder helpline in Hyderabad (contact information given above), or the various other senior-care related resources listed above and in the comments. Or you may use the tips mentioned above for searching for suitable service providers. Some providers are also listed on this page:

Please note that you will need to evaluate the service provider for suitability and reliability yourself, and that the quality of actual service may be very different from what the organizations claim to provide. Wishing you the very best.

Also contact Helpage India, to see if they know of any places that may be suitable.

  5. I Recently moved from Chennai to Hyderabad. My mother is having an issue where doctors diagnosed it is Alzhemer’s.
She is 63 Years and have challenges with Memory and doing Self Related Activities.

A month back there was a huge problem where she Started screaming and continuously weeping for no reason. Due to that i have had a problem with the tenants where they asked us to vacate the house and search for a new home.

She is fine right now as she is not screaming anymore. At times she appears like she is disappointed meaning she is not having anything.

The challenge i have right now is about New House where people could understand the problem my mother has and accept it the way it is. I don’t think asking for helping me find a house is a right question to post in this forum but i am just giving it a try.

Other help i need is about the information about the Day Care centers available in Hyderabad. She is little active and not bed ridden. I am thinking that a little bit of Occupational Therapy and engaging here would defintely help her overcome the hard situation she is undergoing.

    Please help and suggest.

  9. Hi,
I’m Manasa. My grandfather is suffering from dementia. He keeps hallucinating and keeps blaming people of either stealing his things, he has fought with his brothers and sisters as well and accused them of stealing from him. Off late his hallucinations have become wilder. We don’t know what is to be done. I’m located at Hyderabad currently. I did try contacting Ardsi using the contact number provided on this site. But I didn’t get any response. No one is even lifting the call. I would very much appreciate if you can pull me through to some institution that offers a little relief.
    Thank you

    1. Dear Manasa

      (2) Most of us find ways to handle changed and difficult behavior at home. To understand more about changed behavior and possible approaches, please also check the following pages on this site:
      How dementia impacts behavior and

Please feel free to email at after you check out these pages, in case you need more information/ pointers.

  10. Hi , Am Brij mohan , my mother aged 63 years old suffering from multiple dementia , fractured her hip and knee recently and taking medication for bed sores also. I urgently need a nursing home or old age home with a nurse who can take care her , please suggest me some of the old age home with doctors / nurse to take care of her .

    1. Very sorry to hear of your situation. Please contact the various organizations listed above; they will be able to help you or direct you to the right persons. The resources above include ARDSI Hyderabad, and also two 24×7 care homes, and also a link for a directory for agencies for attendants in Hyderabad.

  11. My mother is an Alzheimer’s patient I need a care centre for her to take care plz help me out she is not bed ridden, but leaving her at home we are facing lot of problems complaints from neighbour’s plz plz help

    1. Two full-time care centres are listed in the page above. Try contacting them, or contact ARDSI Hyderabad-Deccan for more ideas. If yoi are not particular about Hyderabad, you can see the other city resources pages on this site.

  12. Hi, my parents are alone in a remote village about 50 km from Vijayawada, my father is diagnosed with Alzimer’s, he can’t take care of his own activities, any support / care giver who can help us out, there seems to be some help available around Hyderabad. Any ideas/suggestions are welcome. Thanks

    1. Some help available is listed on the page above. As you are far away, you may probably need to use more local sources for getting an attendant, and it would be tricky getting someone suitably trained for care. So you may need to get someone who is trained for general home care. or acre for elders, and then train them for dementia yourself.

You can get some ideas on what sort of things to look at using this page here,

You can also learn enough about dementia care and home care yourself so that you know what to train any hire home help for. The website has many pages on what care involves, so please look around the pages, especially pages in the section
